The Campus Symposium

Our Vision

The Campus Symposium is an international business conference which has taken place on the campus of the BiTS private university in Iserlohn since 2005 with great success. This event is organized entirely by the BiTS students.  An enormous 4000 m² marquee town offers visitors from all over the world a unique atmosphere in which to listen to outstanding speakers, attend workshops and enjoy a comprehensive supporting programme.

The aim and main focus of the Campus Symposium is to generate knowledge and create a networking platform on which renowned orators, entrepreneurs and various branches of industry are brought together. In this way, we make a significant contribution towards drawing attention to the business location of South Westphalia  with its numerous hidden champions and global market leaders.

In the course of the past six years, we have not only succeeded in putting this vision into practice, but have also achieved continuous improvement. In recent years, numerous attendees have listened to talks on current political and economic topics given by high-ranking public figures such as the former US President Bill Clinton, Kofi Annan, Edmund Stoiber, Gerhard Schröder, Tony Blair, Al Gore and many others.

2005: Wissen austauschen – Innovationen schaffen

2007: Unternehmenserfolg im 21. Jahrhundert
2008: Innovation als Zukunftskonzept
2009: The Green Business Conference
2010: Nachhaltigkeit – Gesellschaftliche Realität oder grüne Fiktion?

BiTS Iserlohn

The entire Symposium Organization team is made up of current and former students of the BiTS Iserlohn. The BiTS (Business and Information Technology School) is a state-accredited private university which was founded in 2000/2001 by Prof. Dr. h.c. Dietrich Walther, a businessman from Iserlohn.

The BiTS has been part of the Laureate International Universities network since 2010. It offers practice-related, management-oriented bachelor’s and master’s degree courses on an international level as well as the option to do postgraduate studies as a PhD programme in cooperation with our Spanish partner university, Universidad Europea de Madrid (UEM).

The aim of our private university is to provide practice-oriented training for potential future executives with international prospects, an entrepreneurial mindset, and experience in independently implementing innovative projects.  The Campus Symposium, for instance, started off in 2005 as a student project. Since then, this international business conference has taken place on the university campus each year until 2010, when it was decided to change the rhythm of the event to every two years.
